"The Fifth"
Brown paper bag, a new empty bottle sits by the bed on the floor.
Rusty old motel,
the plaster is falling, the wind's whipping under the door.
There ain't enough whiskey to last him;
She thought he was
cheating and one day she asked him.
And, he took the fifth,
'Cuz he couldn't tell her;
He knew the truth was just
gonna kill her.
She took the house, the car and the kids.
She took it hard,
And he took the fifth.
There up on the wall is his own judge and jury, all them rolled into to one.
And,
long about sundown, they'll find him guilty; who knows where the bottles come from?
Maybe he's sorry he did it, but he
won't get sober enough to admit it.
And, he took the fifth,
'Cuz he couldn't tell her;
He knew the truth was just
gonna kill her.
She took the house, the car and the kids.
She took it hard,
And he took the fifth.
He took the fifth,
'Cuz he couldn't tell her;
He knew the truth was just
gonna kill her.
She took the house, the car and the kids.
She took it hard,
And he took the fifth.
He took the
fifth.
Brown paper
bag and a new empty bottle.
"Just Like Love"
I never thought this is how it would happen,
Thought love was so hard to find.
All
that looking, searching for something that was here all the time.
Just hanging out, laughing and talking,
Thought you were only a friend.
By
the time that I felt myself falling, I was already in.
Oh, ain't it just like love to see what only love can see?
Just like you finding
some unlikely guy
Just like me who dreamed of having something true
Girl, just like the two of us; baby ain't it just
like love?
Oooh oooh oooh
Baby, I guess you can't plan the feeling, I feel so out of control.
Maybe just
let our heart's do the thinking;
Love has a mind of it's own.
Oh, ain't it just like love to see what only love can see?
Just like you finding
someone like a guy
Just like me who dreamed of having something true
Girl, just like the two of us; baby ain't it just
like love?
Oooh oooh oooh
Oh, ain't it just like love to see what only love can see?
Just like you finding
someone like a guy
Just like me who dreamed of having something true
Girl, just like the two of us; baby ain't it just
like love?
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh
"That's a Woman"
She's been working all day, you'd
never know;
It's over now as she changes chothes,
Leaves it all behind, that old 9 to 5.
Already waiting when I come in
Asking how my day has been,
Knowing all the time, hers was worse than mine.
Now that's a woman; that's a woman.
Such a pretty face,
no makeup on;
Dancing round the house to the radio
In my favorite shirt; it looks better on her.
Crossing her legs
and painting her toes,
Sitting in the middle of the living room floor;
Putting on a show, she don't even know.
Now that's a woman; that's a woman
She's got sexy little ways, sassy little moods.
But all I know is her love is
true.
When we lay down late at night
In my arms, she holds on tight
Whispers low,
Baby, I love you so.
Now that's a woman, that's a woman
Now that's a woman, that's my woman
"Damn the Whiskey"
There must be a demon in that bottle;
It's been stealing my money all night long.
I'm
down to a dollar on my paycheck,
But it's all been going to a worthy cause.
Damn the whiskey
For making me feel so good.
To hell with the honky tonks,
for doing what they should.
It's the price you pay, but that's ok,
Helps a working man get by.
Come Monday, there'll be 40 hours waiting;
I'll bust my back right over the hump
somehow.
By the time the eagle flies on Friday,
I'll be setting myself up for another round.
Damn the
whiskey
For making me feel so good.
To hell with the honky tonks, for doing what they should.
It's the price you
pay, but that's ok,
Helps a working man get by.
That cocktail baby, she just caught me looking a second time.
One more shot,
and I'll be looking for a way to make her mine.
Damn the whiskey;
To hell with the honky tonks.
Damn the whiskey
For making me feel so good.
To
hell with the honky tonks, for doing what they should.
It's the price you pay, but that's ok,
Helps a working man get
by.
"Makin' Me Wait"
I was moving in, moving in for the kill, long about our third date;
I
thought I had her in the palm of my hand,
So I didn't anticipate her making me wait, wait.
Waiting on her kisses, making me wishing for what ain't mine.
Wait,
waiting on her loving,
Says she'll give it up in her own sweet time.
I wanna move so fast; she says, Slow down, hold
back.
She's making me wait;
She says, "Baby, wait."
One week, two dates, 100 bucks later, still ain't around first base.
But,
I know when I'm onto something worth keeping me in the chase.
Waiting on her kisses, making me wishing for what ain't
mine.
Wait, waiting on her loving,
Says she'll give it up in her own sweet time.
I wanna move so fast; she says,
Slow down, hold back.
She's making me wait;
She says, "Baby, wait."
Ain't known to be the patient kind,
But I'm more than willing to
be this time.
Making me wait
She says, "Baby wait."
Making me wait, wait.
Waiting
on her kisses, making me wishing for what ain't mine.
Wait, waiting on her loving,
Says she'll give it up in her own
sweet time.
I wanna move so fast; she says, Slow down, hold back.
She's making me wait;
She says, "Baby, wait.
Ah,
baby, wait.
Baby, wait.
Ya gotta wait."
