You've heard the songs on "Wings of a Honky Tonk Angel." Now, read what Brad has to say about writing and recording them:

BEFORE I KNEW BETTER - Well, I would say that this song right here anybody can relate to because at one point in their life, they've probably experienced something that they've had to answer to later on down the road.  This song touches on that.  It's about a guy who hasn't made all the best choices in the world.  In this circumstance, it was a relationship that he ended up trying to save.  So I think, across the board, a lot of people can relate to that.  And, instantly, when we heard the song, we knew that it was something that had to be on the project, because I continuously try and write the next best song that I can.  And, this song right here was one that had a subject matter that I hadn't touched on in the songs I had written.  So, it needed to be a part of the album.

COMPLETELY - This song here, actually, there's a whole lot of me in there.  When you write, you try and write from inspiration, somewhere that you either have been or somewhere where you want to end up.  And, in case, it kind of hits on here where I've been and where I want to end up.  I have to say, some inspiration behind this song came from when my youngest sister was getting married.  And, she wanted me to come up and play for her wedding.  She asked me to sing a cover song, and I asked her if it would be alright if I try and maybe write her a song for the wedding.  My co-writers and I ended up coming up with the title, "Completely" and we kind of wrote it for her wedding.  But, also, being a part of me one of the big lines in song, the second verse, "Always loved on the run; never gave my heart to anyone..."  So many people, I think, can relate to that, because I've certainly been there myself.

RUB ME THE RIGHT WAY - [This] is your hard-working man song.  It's kind of your "Johnny Paycheck Take This Job and Shove It" with the working-man-blues sentiment.  It also has a woman-friendly element, because every guy who has a bad day loves to be able to come home to his beautiful wife or beautiful girlfriend and, after having a hard day, be comforted.

ON THE WINGS ON A HONKY TONK ANGEL - This is of course the title cut off the new album.  Its basically about a guy who has the love of his life walk out on his life, and he knows that theres no hope in her coming back.  So, he might as well just take his pick, move on with his life, and try to find a new inspiration in the place where he dwells, which is the honky-tonk.  This is my personal favorite off this album.

RUN TO ME - That comes from a personal experience in my life.  Basically, when theres no place to turn, no place to go the songs about you have some place to turn to, which is the guy in the song.  One of the biggest things I thrive on as a songwriter is to stay true to the song.  And, I think every lyric in there pretty much defines what the songs made of.

THE FIFTH - This was an outside song.  I didn't write this song, but there again, I thought it was something that needed to be on the album, because Im a true believer in country music.  I'm a true believer in what really goes on in the real world.  And, this song is, unfortunately, a part of that.  A guy who basically has made a couple wrong decisions in his life, and who has decided to turn to the bottle, and not accept the truth and the reality of what it is hes done.

JUST LIKE LOVE - It's just a different angel on a relationship.  It's about two people who fell in love, but they dont realize it.  Theyre two friends thats hung out, had a good time, and enjoyed each others company.  Love kind of saw them being in love before they did.

THAT'S A WOMAN - This is kind of my perspective on what all the little things that a woman does kind of go unnoticed by the fast pace of life and relationships.  So, its just a real lyric about a guy who picks up on a lot of things about his significant other that kind of goes unnoticed.

DAMN THE WHISKEY - Well, it's about a guy who basically works real hard through the week.  He has all his priorities in line and come weekend time, he goes out and rambles on, has such a good time that his good time actually gets bigger than his wallet.  He ends up spending all of his paycheck, and come Monday morning, he has to go back out there and do it all again.  And, unfortunately, hes right back in the same situation the following weekend, spending all his money again.  Just another take on real life honky-tonking.

MAKIN' ME WAIT - The song here is the anticipation of falling in love and someone having enough control in a relationship to make the guy wait and prove himself to be the one whos deserving to get her love.
